MOSES PROJECT: Participants

Orbin Rubi Monrroy Oliva

Home: San Agustin
Birthday: February 5, 1992
Siblings: 3 older and 3 younger
Education: Finished grade 7 this year

Since there is a junior high school in San Agustin, Orbin has been able to make it through grade 7 so far. When not in school, Orbin works like all the rest to help support his family. While he presents himself as the original rebel, he actually came across as a very social and a normal fan of soccer like all the rest of the Honduran boys his age. He wants to learn carpentry, but ultimately would like to manage a company like Copán Dry (Honduras' version of Pepsi).

His home is basic like the others, but without electricity just like Luis. The walls are built out of a wood lattice (normally small tree trunks) filled in with mud and then a coat of cement / mud plaster on the outside of the walls. His dad is a pastor for a small church in San Agustin -- which must be like being the preacher in Dodge City about 150 years ago. Orbin's 18 year old brother is studying in Santa Roa de Copán, so I expect he'll have the comfort initially of being able to hang out with a family member on Sundays.
