Josué Javier Salinas Ramirez
Home: El Limon, Dulce Nombre
Birthday: October 27, 1993
Siblings: 3 older and 2 younger
Education: Finished grade 7 in 2007
Javier and his father actually came to interview with us last year when we were in the process of replacing Victor (the youth who simply didn't have the heart to leave his family when the time came). Unfortunately for him, although his was a good candidate, we simply couldn't accept him because of his age. The trade school will not accept students below the age of 14.
Javier and his family work with traditional crops like corn and beans and harvesting coffee during the winter months like everybody else. Like some of the families in this region, his mom and sister spend time making cigars by hand. The families combine their production and send it all in to Dulce Nombre where buyers then distribute them throughout Central America
Both Javier and his family had demonstrated a desire to further his education -- evidenced by his participation in grade 7 by correspondance in the year that he was not able to join us. Javier is interested in the trades and rather than being focussed on one, he wants to investigate the options that are out there.
