Josué Ely Perez Castillo
Home: San Agustin, Copan
Birthday: May 27, 1993
Siblings: 2 older and 6 younger
Education: Finished grade 8 in 2007
Ely is the most educated member of our team -- at the outset, anyways. Because of his proximity to a junior high, Ely was able to continue on with his academic education and finished grades 7 & 8 in his home town.
Ely's dad has a carpentry shop attached to the side of the house and when Ely was not in school, he was helping his dad make doors, beds, bookshelves, etc. Like most rural youth, summer vacation comes in December and January (although it is winter here as well) and he spent each of these vacations out harvesting coffee off the sides of the surrounding hills.
His motivation to join the Moses Project was to take advantage of an opportunity to learn the trades -- which makes sense given that his dad is a carpenter.
